Special Note from 2001-2003 EDB President, Yvonne:We requested for two interpreters for this International Motorcycle Show in Philadephia, PA on Jan. 19, 2002. Some people planned to attend but cancelled due to bad weather (heavy snow in the afternoon). 12 people, both deaf and hearing attended but 6 of us came early and were able to use interpreters. The interpreters were useful because we got so much valuable information from different dealers and vendors. Also, there were no closed caption on TVs in the show we attended last year in Phila. PA and there were also frequent announcements through speakers about prizes, autographs from famous motorcyclists or race motorcyclists, events on the premise, and etc. Our interpreters interpreted the announcements coming through speakers and we didn't miss anything while we were there. Alvin, my husband, and I are planning to attend this show in DC and we will request an interpreter or two for ourselves. If you want to have an interpreter there, please write to Cycle World to make a request. I can give you the contact information later. Email me at ymattiello@comcast.net. The best time to make a request for sign language interpreters is before the end of January or early February. This show is really a big show and it is not like the other shows we attended in Baltimore, MD or Chantilly, VA last year. See the flyer I copied from the web.
